Tipis

A tipi is more than a shelter. With a hearth at its centre, it becomes a warm, homely space where people gather, connect with nature and each other, and slow down. That makes it well suited to festivals, weddings, retreats or simply a distinctive addition to a garden.

The people behind the range have been living in and working with tipis around the world for more than 25 years, from Asia to the Americas and Europe. That experience, and a respect for the cultural heritage of these structures, shapes every one built. Traditional techniques are retained, but the designs have been adapted to modern requirements, so each tipi is made to last while balancing beauty with practicality.

The structures are tested in the field as well as the workshop. Hundreds go out every season to festivals, weddings, glamping sites and private gardens, and that use feeds back into the designs. The canvas is Regentex 12-ounce polycotton, treated to resist fire, rot and water and proven against the British climate. Poles are sustainably sourced, and the heavy-duty groundsheets and coir matting flooring are chosen for strength and durability.

Buyers can choose natural white or sand-coloured canvas, with trim in shades including olive green, burgundy and blue. Recent upgrades include storm flaps, waterproof lacing pin sections and velcro-secured doors to keep out drips and draughts.

Yurts

Yurts from the same workshop are built for calm and company: a comfortable, inviting environment for festivals, weddings, personal retreats or a garden. The team brings over a quarter of a century of experience in yurt manufacture, hire and sales, and many members have lived and worked with yurts worldwide. That understanding of yurt culture informs structures that honour their heritage while meeting contemporary needs.

Field testing at festivals, weddings, glamping sites and retreats has refined the yurts for durability and comfort in any weather. The canvas is the best polycotton available, treated for fire, rot and water resistance and proven against the UK’s varied climate. Frames are made from locally sourced ash, a lightweight but strong hardwood that bends without breaking and resists wind loads. Larger yurts use a laminated birch ply crown for added strength and stability.

Options include natural white or sand canvas with trim in olive green, burgundy or French blue, plus lockable wooden doors, clear PVC windows with shutters, flue outlets for wood stoves and flying awnings to keep rain off the entrance. Yurts can be interconnected to form larger, multi-room structures, suiting anything from an intimate garden space to a large celebration.

Trilodge

The Trilodge is the range’s own design, developed after years of hiring out tipis across the country. It takes elements of the traditional tipi and adds features for comfort and convenience.

The structure hangs from a tripod of tipi poles, which reduces the number of poles needed compared with a traditional tipi. Instead of the usual open top, it has weatherproof vents for adjustable ventilation. The canvas cover attaches to the groundsheet to create a draught-free, weather-sealed interior, and the groundsheet has an upstand around its edge to keep groundwater out. The entrance incorporates an awning, so the door can stay open in wet weather, and the zipped door can be secured with a padlock.

At ground level, two vents with insect mesh and canvas rain covers provide airflow, and can be zipped shut to hold warmth in cold conditions. The design’s advantages over a traditional tipi include easier installation, adjustable ventilation and better protection against draughts and flooding, with fewer long poles to handle. Trilodges come in a range of colours, with a natural white or sand base and trims including olive green, burgundy and orange.

Renovation and maintenance

Alongside new builds, the workshop offers a renovation and maintenance service for existing tipis, yurts and Trilodges.
